Who we work with

Built for people who
don't stop.

Exercise physiology isn't just rehabilitation. For high-output professionals, it's the system that keeps you competing โ€” at work, in the gym, and in life.

01

The gym-goer with a persistent injury

Shoulder that flares up on bench. Back that locks up after deadlifts. You've seen your GP, tried resting, and still can't train the way you want to. An EP builds around the injury while fixing the cause.

02

The professional managing a chronic condition

Diabetes, cardiovascular risk, metabolic syndrome โ€” conditions that don't stop your career but quietly limit everything else. Exercise physiology is evidence-based medicine for these, often covered by Medicare under a GP Care Plan.

03

The weekend competitor who needs more

You're not an elite athlete. But you train seriously, compete socially, and have goals that matter. We create structured programs that fit a real schedule โ€” not a professional athlete's training block.

Our process

From assessment
to performance.

A structured four-stage approach โ€” not generic exercise sheets, not one-size programs. Built around your body, your schedule, and your goals.

1

Comprehensive assessment

Movement screen, strength testing with VALD ForceDecks, and a deep dive into your injury history, training habits, and performance goals.

2

Individual program design

A tailored exercise prescription โ€” not a template. Accounts for your available training days, equipment access, and what actually needs to change.

3

Supervised sessions

One-on-one coaching where technique, load, and pain response are monitored in real time. No guessing, no white-knuckling through discomfort.

4

Performance outcomes

Measured against the goals you walked in with. Return to the gym. Hit the lifting total you've been chasing. Run without knee pain. Specific, trackable, yours.

What we treat

Common presentations
we see every week.

  • Shoulder impingement & rotator cuffPain from bench, overhead pressing, or sleeping on your side. Usually structural โ€” load management and targeted strengthening resolve most cases.
  • Lower back pain & disc-related injuryThe most common complaint among desk-based professionals who also train. EP addresses the training load, movement patterns, and capacity deficits driving it.
  • Knee pain (runners, cyclists & gym goers)Patellofemoral syndrome, patellar tendinopathy, post-surgical ACL return-to-sport.
  • Metabolic & cardiovascular conditionsType 2 diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia โ€” structured exercise is first-line treatment. We work alongside your GP and are Medicare-rebatable under a CDM plan.
  • General deconditioning & weight managementFor professionals who've lost training consistency and want a structured, evidence-based way back.

EP vs Physiotherapy โ€” what's the difference?

Physiotherapy focuses on acute injury management, manual therapy, and restoring baseline function โ€” getting you out of pain and back to normal movement.

Exercise physiology picks up where physio leaves off. Once you're out of the acute phase, an EP builds the load tolerance, strength, and conditioning that prevents re-injury and improves actual performance. It's the difference between recovering and thriving.

Many of our clients see both within our clinic โ€” referred across internally when the clinical picture calls for it.

Common questions

Everything you need

Answers to the questions we hear most from new clients โ€” especially those new to exercise physiology.

At 4D Health & Performance, fees vary by session type and practitioner level โ€” see the full breakdown in our pricing table below. Initial consultations start from $150 and follow-ups from $130.

If you have private health insurance with extras cover, you'll receive a rebate at point of service. If your GP has set up a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, you may be eligible for up to 5 Medicare-rebated sessions per calendar year โ€” the current rebate is approximately $58.30 per session.
Yes โ€” particularly if you're dealing with an injury that hasn't fully resolved, a chronic condition, or you want to train harder without breaking down.

The difference is specificity. A general gym program treats everyone the same. An Exercise Physiologist assesses your body, identifies what's actually limiting you, and writes a program around that. For our typical client โ€” a professional in their 30s or 40s who trains regularly and has one or two stubborn pain points โ€” it's often the difference between managing an injury for years vs actually resolving it.
Neither is universally better โ€” they serve different stages of care.

Physiotherapy is first-line for acute injuries and restoring basic function. Exercise physiology is the next step: building the strength and conditioning that makes you resilient long-term.

At 4D we have both under one roof and regularly refer between them. You may start with one and transition to the other as your recovery progresses.
Yes โ€” under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, Medicare covers up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year. You need a GP referral confirming a chronic or complex medical condition. The current rebate is approximately $58.30 per session.

We also accept DVA referrals and NDIS (plan-managed and self-managed). Not sure if you qualify? Call us and we'll sort it out before your first appointment.
Your initial consultation is a full 60-minute assessment covering your injury and medical history, current training program and goals, and a movement and strength screen using VALD ForceDecks where relevant.

You won't leave with a generic handout โ€” you'll leave with a clear picture of what's happening and what we're going to do about it.
