What is
Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapists specialise in movement and function — working collaboratively with patients to overcome movement deficiencies arising from sport, training, injury, or conditions present since birth.

The team at 4D Health and Performance use current evidence-based techniques to assess, diagnose, treat, and prevent a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and sporting conditions. Our physiotherapists spend one-on-one time understanding how your issue is affecting you, then deliver a client-centred treatment approach built entirely around your goals.

Sydney CBD & Norwest

More than hands-on treatment.
A pathway back to full function.

At 4D Health and Performance, we believe in providing more than a 'band-aid' solution. Every treatment plan combines manual therapy with corrective rehabilitation exercises designed to address the root cause — not just the symptoms.

Our physiotherapists are trained in manual therapy techniques including soft tissue massage, dry needling, joint mobilisation, and active release therapy. These are applied alongside individualised rehabilitation programs designed to progress your recovery and prevent recurrence.

We use an integrated model across the 4D clinic — working alongside our exercise physiologists, chiropractors, and wider allied health network to ensure your injury is managed efficiently, professionally, and with continuity of care.

Our approach.

Prompt assessment and accurate diagnosis are essential to successful treatment and rehabilitation. Our four-step approach ensures nothing is missed.

01
Assess

Detailed history-taking and thorough physical examination — identifying the root cause of your issue, not just the site of pain. Movement testing, orthopaedic assessment, and outcome measures form the foundation.

02
Diagnose

A clear, accurate clinical diagnosis — communicated in plain language. Your physiotherapist will address concerns and barriers relating to your management before treatment begins, ensuring you understand the path ahead.

03
Treat

Manual therapy — soft tissue massage, dry needling, joint mobilisation, active release therapy — applied precisely based on your clinical findings. Treatment decisions are driven by your presentation and goals, not a standard protocol.

04
Rehabilitate

Corrective rehabilitation exercises designed to address the underlying cause, rebuild capacity, and prevent recurrence. A plan for both inside and outside the clinic — empowering you to take control of your recovery.

Integrated care model

Physiotherapy that
works alongside
the whole team.

At 4D, we use an integrated model throughout the clinic that works alongside our patients, our practitioners across different fields, and other allied health professionals — ensuring your injury is managed efficiently and professionally.

Where your recovery benefits from more than one discipline, our team communicates and collaborates directly — so you're never managing conflicting advice or starting from scratch with each practitioner.

Appointment
types.

Choose the consultation type that best matches your situation. Call us on (02) 8041 0762 if you're unsure.

Initial Consultation

Our physiotherapists will take a detailed history, complete a thorough physical examination, and develop a management plan tailored specifically for you and your goals.

Your physiotherapist will also address and discuss any concerns or barriers relating to your injury management, ensuring you leave with a clear understanding of your condition and the path forward.

What to expect
  • Detailed medical and injury history
  • Thorough physical examination and diagnosis
  • Client-centred management plan
  • Initial hands-on treatment
  • Discussion of goals, concerns, and barriers
  • Imaging or specialist referral if warranted

Standard Follow Up

Based on the individualised treatment plan from your initial consultation, your physiotherapist will implement specific strategies to progress your recovery toward the outcomes discussed.

We believe in providing more than a band-aid solution — corrective rehabilitation exercises will be included alongside hands-on treatment to drive lasting results.

What to expect
  • Progress review and outcome testing
  • Manual therapy — soft tissue massage, dry needling, ART
  • Joint mobilisation where warranted
  • Corrective rehabilitation exercises
  • Home exercise programme update

Extended Follow Up

For existing patients with a more complex presentation, or those with two or more different issues requiring treatment (e.g. shoulder and knee). If 30 minutes is sufficient, select Standard instead.

Your physiotherapist can coordinate referrals within the 4D team — to exercise physiology, chiropractic, or imaging — when multi-disciplinary input will benefit your recovery.

What to expect
  • Progress discussion and presentation review
  • Re-assessment of outcomes and tests
  • Review of imaging — X-ray, CT, MRI, specialist reports
  • Passive treatment — massage, dry needling
  • Rehab programme modification or progression
  • Internal referral to EP or Chiro if needed

Long Consultation

For existing 4D clients requiring treatment and rehabilitation across multiple injury sites, or those with a more complex presentation requiring additional face-to-face time.

Gives your physiotherapist the time to address the full picture — treatment, rehabilitation, load management, and planning across all presenting areas.

What to expect
  • Multi-site injury review and assessment
  • Comprehensive re-testing and outcome measures
  • Imaging and specialist correspondence review
  • Hands-on treatment across all presenting areas
  • Full rehabilitation programme review and update
  • Load and lifestyle management discussion
