From the rugby sideline

Suhaanan is one of our directors and physiotherapists at 4D Health and Performance, where he leads the clinic’s approach to rehabilitation, movement optimisation, and performance care. Since graduating from Australian Catholic University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Suhaanan has developed extensive experience in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy, working with clients ranging from the general population through to competitive athletes.
As a director at 4D Health and Performance, Suhaanan plays a key role in shaping the clinic’s clinical standards, rehabilitation systems, and performance-focused treatment philosophy. His approach focuses on bridging the gap between injury recovery and high-level performance, helping patients not only recover from pain but return stronger, more resilient, and capable of performing at their highest level.
Suhaanan has worked closely with athletes and sporting teams, including rugby union and AFL at both social and semi-professional levels. This experience has given him a deep understanding of the physical demands of sport, the importance of load management, and the role of strength and conditioning in both injury prevention and performance development.
His clinical approach emphasises comprehensive assessment, precise diagnosis, and structured rehabilitation programs tailored to the individual. Suhaanan integrates hands-on physiotherapy with progressive strength and conditioning to address the root cause of injury and build long-term resilience.
He has a particular interest in strength and conditioning, biomechanics, and movement analysis, and regularly incorporates these principles into rehabilitation programs to optimise performance in sport, work, and everyday life.

Musculoskeletal & Sports Injuries
Assessment and management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries across all body regions — from first presentation through to full return to sport or activity.
Manual Therapy & Dry Needling
Joint mobilisation, soft tissue therapy, and dry needling applied strategically as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan tailored to each patient's presentation and goals.
Biomechanical Movement Analysis
Assessment of movement patterns and their relationship to injury risk and performance. Suhaanan identifies deficits and translates them into targeted corrective strategies relevant to sport and daily function.
Strength & Conditioning
ASCA Level 1 accredited — bridging the gap between rehabilitation and performance through progressive loading programs that build durable patients, not just pain-free ones.
Occupational Injury Rehabilitation
WorkCover accredited physiotherapy for occupational injuries — structured rehabilitation plans with clear return-to-work milestones communicated collaboratively with the treating team.
High-Performance Rehabilitation
Postgraduate accreditation in high-performance rehabilitation — applying sport science principles to programs for athletes returning to, or exceeding, their previous performance level.
The 4D approach.
Every patient moves through a structured four-step care pathway — built to take you from diagnosis to your best performance, not just pain relief.
Thorough assessment
A comprehensive physical and functional assessment to accurately understand your condition and its underlying cause — incorporating biomechanical movement analysis where relevant.
Targeted treatment
Manual therapy, dry needling, and hands-on techniques applied strategically in combination with corrective exercise — tailored specifically to your presentation, not a template protocol.

Philosophy
Rehab that builds more
than it recovers.
Suhaanan's clinical philosophy is built around a simple belief: the goal of physiotherapy isn't just to get you out of pain — it's to leave you more capable than you were before the injury.
By combining thorough biomechanical assessment with progressive strength and conditioning principles, Suhaanan designs rehabilitation programs that address not just the injury itself, but the underlying capacity deficits that allowed it to occur in the first place.
Whether you're a professional rugby player returning from injury, an amateur athlete preparing for competition, or someone wanting to move better in daily life — the approach is the same: understand the body, load it progressively, and build something that lasts.
Currently completing his Master of Sports Medicine at Melbourne University, Suhaanan brings an ongoing commitment to evidence-based practice to every patient he sees.
